ABOUT THADDEUS B. KUBIS

Trained as both a graphic designer and photographer Thad brings an element of geometric imagery and graphic design to every photo he creates. Imagery and visualization have always been very important tenets of his creative life.

Recently he has expanded into HD Videography using a state of the art Canon HD video system. With the Canon XL H1 HD system and the full complement of Final Cut Pro, Thad can offer motion imagery in the same design quality of his static work. Fully digital with a complete Canon EOS-1, Ds Mark II, 35mm system Thad has also decide to counter the digital trend and has commissioned a Littman 4 x 5 camera to be built, this system uses Polaroid/Fuji instant film as the media. Check the Littman 4x5 menu tab on this website for updates.

Thad’s photographic tool kit includes traditional film based cameras, which include a Leica as well as a Hasselblad system. Rust, stains, urban de-industrialization, the flow of water and air are some of his favorite subjects, along with sailing, boating and travel images. Mixing his favorites subject with his designer’s eye and you will see a broad spectrum or imagery that will offer the most choices to a discriminating eye.

Linking photography to his passion, sailing (he holds a USGC Masters license, with a sailing and towing endorsement) has been a rewarding experience. Recently, Thad joined a friend, sailing a Kaufman 47 from Mallorca to Rome and turned this 12-day adventure into a photo book titled “A Sailor’s Eye”. This 52-page book is being printed by Xerox and can be seen at: http://tbkphotos.com/a_sailors_eye/

The book to be published in February 2009 is to be used as a digital print example and primer-allowing Xerox equipped (iGen) digital printers to capture a segment of the growing on-line book publishing market.
